The Axe & Cleaver a traditional village pub is located in the large village of North Somercotes on the Lincolnshire east coast. The pub was built in the late 1930s to replace the old Axe & Cleaver which originally stood on the crossroads.

Now a Freehouse under local ownership, the Axe & Cleaver has been refurbished and returned to its former self. We are proud to serve quality beers and food with a warm welcome to families, diners and drinkers alike in our three bars and two dining areas. Our new outdoor food & drink area is table heated. Food at the Axe & Cleaver is fresh, homemade and cooked to order using locally sourced ingredients.

Holiday visit with doggies
We visited this pub 3 times on our weekend break. We stayed just down the road at Sunnyvale caravan park. Staff were very friendly and helpful the food was really good. Pub was very dog friendly which is always a bonus and the set up for covid was excellent. We will be returning on our next holiday break.

Very nice and modern pub due to the covid restrictions we sat on one of the 3 beer gardens and had a lovely time the staff were outstanding.

A first visit for us at this lovely pub.
Firstly COVID measures are top notch and the first priority upon arrival Then seated at socially distanced tables. I had a Sunday lunch whilst the better half had hunters chicken. Service was friendly and pleasant and the meals served in a more than reasonable time frame. Both were hot and so tasty, the veg cooked to perfection. We followed this up with desert and again was not disappointed. The warm chocolate brownie was to die for. Very reasonably priced and all in all a wonderful dinning experience given the current climate. Here for a week and will definitely visit again.

Good food and atmosphere
Been before and was just the same, great staff, food and atmosphere. You can also take dogs in the bar, who also get snacks. What's not to like, give it a try.

We had a lovely time and the staff where very nice very friendly the food was great the beer lovely really enjoyed the evening and our dog benny loved it given biscuits the pub is very clean when we come to the area we will come back to the pub felt very comfortable. Well done ladies it’s how it should be thank you for a lovely time.

Amazing
Visited here when we were on holiday in Louth cannot tell you how good the food is in this pub would 100% recommend this place to anyone. Excellent service staff were amazing especially in the situation we find ourselves at the moment. If we are ever that way again it will be the first place on our list to visit. Must just say the portion sizes are fantastic cannot compliment it enough

Accommodating and excellent
Really enjoyed our visit to the Axe & Cleaver. My husband, my daughter and I were on our first family holiday. The customer service was excellent. The new procedures in place following covid were efficient. The food was excellent. Really good quality food, service and atmosphere. Good value for money also. The staff were great with my dairy free diet also!! Thank you Axe and Cleaver!
